Symphonic Band
Symphonic Band is the premier concert band at Lancaster High School, comprised of students in grades 10-12. Symphonic Band performs three concerts each year and participates in OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Events. Participation in Solo and Ensemble Contest is an important part of the Symphonic Band curriculum. Private lessons are strongly recommended for all students in this performing group.

The Band of Gold
The Lancaster High School Band of Gold is a prestigious and accomplished performing ensemble that takes center stage at Lancaster High School. As the largest and most visible musical group, the Band of Gold enthralls audiences with their captivating performances at football games, parades, community events, and various competitions throughout the fall. To be a part of this group, members must attend summer rehearsals and band camp to prepare properly for the busy performance schedule.

Chamber Ensembles
In addition to participation in Solo and Ensemble Contest, many small chamber ensembles continue to exist throughout the year to continue challenging top musicians, to develop music independence, and to give back to the community. Small chamber ensembles rehearse with limited coaching from band staff and perform throughout the Lancaster area as ambassadors of Lancaster High School. Performance venues include: athletic events, community festivals, restaurants, church services, nursing homes, organizational meetings, school board meetings, elementary or junior high classes, or special assemblies.
Percussion Ensemble
The Lancaster High School Percussion Ensemble was formed to inspire students to further their skills in all aspects of performance, with emphasis on the keyboard idiom. Membership in this group is attained by auditions in the spring. Rehearsals are held two to four times per week, beginning in November.

Swinging Gales
The Swinging Gales is a dynamic jazz ensemble that goes beyond the curriculum to delve into a wide range of musical styles within the jazz and popular music genre. From swing and blues, to funk, rock, Latin, and more, the group has been exploring the full spectrum of jazz since its founding in 1966. While membership is open to all high school band members, the group also welcomes non-band members who can audition on piano, guitar, bass, or as a vocal soloist.
Pep Band
Pep band is a spirited ensemble that plays upbeat and lively music at school events such as pep rallies, home basketball games, and other special occasions. Comprised of volunteers from the high school band, pep band adds energy and excitement to school events and basketball games. Playing a range of music from popular tunes to school fight songs, pep band unites the school community and brings a sense of school spirit to the forefront. Membership is open to any high school band member, as well as select 8th grade band members.
