Band of Gold Families,
Due to the popular Luke Bryan concert on September 28 (the original LHS homecoming date), the homecoming dance has been moved to Saturday, November 2. Throughout the past week, Mr. Burre and I have been discussing the best options. I appreciate his cooperation and willingness to find a date that would work for all students.
This particular date is often the day on which the Band of Gold would perform at State Finals, but in order to find a good solution for the homecoming dance, we will be choosing one of the other options.
How does this work exactly? Here is some clarification as to the process of qualifying for and choosing a date for State Marching Band Finals.
To qualify for OMEA State Marching Band Finals, a band must receive the top rating of “Superior” at one or more local event. Bands that qualify earlier in the season may request a specific date. This year’s dates are November 2, 3, 9, or 10.
With that being said, upon receiving our first “Superior” rating, we will be requesting Sunday, November 3 at Dayton Welcome Stadium for our first choice. A later time that day should prevent conflicts with church services.
We are a long way from this goal, but we are confident that with continued hard work the Band of Gold will qualify for State Finals for the 39th consecutive year. Go Gales!
