Summer Practices

Marching Band Families,

Over the next couple of days, we will be finalizing and sending out our summer marching band schedule. For obvious reason, it is subject to change. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding!

Here is some information to get started.

Where can I view the band calendar?

Go to https://lancasterbands.com/events/ or click on the “Events” tab on the top menu of the website. Since it’s a Google calendar, you can also subscribe to it if you’d like.

We are just finishing up percussion auditions. Once that is finished, percussion sectionals will be added to the calendar too.

What if I can’t come to a practice?

If there’s a good reason why you can’t come, we understand. We trust you to make good decisions. If you can be at practice, you need to be here.

All we ask is that you use common sense and communicate to us. If you can’t come, you need to fill out the Band Absence Form. You can find it under the Connect tab on the website.

There will be “virtual” assignments posted on Google Classroom. If you miss a practice, you need to be prepared for the next one. That’s the responsibility of the band member to come prepared. We will be posting a lot of material on Google Classroom this summer.

How will things be different?

Only band members and staff members should be at practice. We aren’t able to have parents at band facilities at this time.

Review the safety procedures. Wear a mask when you enter and leave practice. Keep your distance during practice. Don’t touch anything you don’t need to touch. Bring your own water. Take everything home after practice.

When you enter, find the attendance sign. It’ll be outside the band room or right inside the door. You need to scan the QR code for attendance each day. If your phone doesn’t scan QR codes there are apps you can download that will allow you to do so.

The most important difference is we are going to expect you to practice more on your own and come more prepared than ever before. We are operating with the least number of practices as we can to avoid unnecessary time together. When you’re at home, you need to be preparing for the next practice.

I have specific questions about something later in the season.

I understand completely… we all do!

Some of you are planners and want to know exact details right away. Unfortunately, we don’t have all of the answers either. Once we do, we’ll communicate that information clearly. Updates will be posted on the website and social media.

What do we need to do before the first practice?

Make sure all of the steps to register have been taken. We still have quite a few who haven’t filled out everything. Check the band forms page for details.
