Band Boosters Yard Sale is This Saturday

Support Lancaster Bands at the Lancaster Band Boosters Yard Sale July 9

LANCASTER, OH – As the Lancaster Marching Band prepares to enter its 101st year of delighting local audiences, the Lancaster Bands and its students need the support of its community. One way you can help is through the upcoming Lancaster Band Boosters yard sale – by either donating items to the sale or purchasing items from the sale.

“100% of the money raised by the Lancaster Band Boosters goes directly to supplement the Lancaster City Schools band programs,” said Lancaster Director of Instrumental Music Ben Factor. “Your donations provide our students with assistant instructors, mini music camps, uniforms and uniform maintenance, equipment, vehicles, contest fees, special events, and more.”

The yard sale will be held on July 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Elementary School, 712 N. Broad Street. Donations will be accepted at Mount Pleasant on July 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.

“By supporting our $40,000 annual budget, you are directly supporting the growth and development of our music program students in grades 6-12,” said Factor.

“This is a great way to kill two birds with one stone,” said Band Boosters Fundraising Chair Valerie Neal. “You can clean out your closet and know that the money generated is going directly toward supporting students in the Lancaster Bands.”

Inspiring our community through music since 1921, the Lancaster Band program gives students from elementary school through high school the opportunity to learn about and experience music and performance. The program dates back to September 17, 1921, when a group of twenty-five Lancaster High School students formed a marching band to perform at the Lancaster-Logan football game. Since that time, the band program has been an integral part of our school and community. The goal of the Lancaster band program is to prepare students for life-long participation in music. To accomplish this goal, great emphasis is placed on understanding and appreciating quality music, developing a great work ethic, becoming independent musicians, and strengthening leadership skills. The Lancaster band program has a prominent and irreplaceable role in our city. Throughout the year, the band gives back to our community by performing at parades, athletic games, and community events.
